SUDBURY — Jayce Douskey’s goal 3:32 into overtime lifted Sudbury Cubs to a 6-5 win over the Abitibi Eskimos at the McClelland Arena Wednesday night.
Sudbury jumped on the Eskimos early, scoring three times in the game’s first 10 minutes as they enjoyed a 3-1 advantage after the first period of play.
Jamie Haines scored a pair of goals for the Cubs in the period, with Nicolas Fournier netting a power-play marker for the Eskimos.
Abitibi battled back in the second period and at one point enjoyed a 5-4 lead before Sudbury got the equalizer.
Mathieu Lefebvre, Jordan Delaurier, Karl Spenard and Corey Hamel scored for the Eskimos.
Sudbury got goals from NOJHL scoring leader Jordan Carroll and Jason Lacroix.
Neither team could find the back of the net in the third period.
The Eskimos will be back on action Saturday night when they play host the to the Blind River Beavers at the Jus Jordan Arena.
