BLIND RIVER - Landon Heibert scored his first two goals in an Abitibi uniform Saturday night to lead the Eskimos to a 4-2 victory over the Beavers.
Jacob Kenney staked the visitors to a 1-0 lead in the first period of their second game of a three-game road trip.
Heibert then notched the first of his two goals to make it a 2-0 game.
Tyson McLeod got that one back for the home side before the end of the second period, however, and the two sides went to the dressing room with the Eskimos up 2-1.
Heibert’s second of the night increased the Eskimos advantage to 3-1 at the 14:30 mark of the third period.
Nick Trecroce gave the Blind River fans some hope when he cut the Eskimos lead to 3-2 just over two minutes later.
Ryan Tront’s goal into an empty Beavers net dashed that hope with 57 seconds remaining, however.
Eskimos goalie Sylvain Miron made 36 saves to pick up the victory, while Blind River netminder Jessie Morin made 26 saves while taking the loss.
The Eskimos had started the road trip with a 5-2 loss to the Soo Thunderbirds on Friday night.
Grant Syrette had two goals for the Thunderbirds, while Darcy Haines, Jaren Bellini and Anthony Miller each scored once.
Shayne Hiley and Brady Clouthier replied for the Eskimos.
Brody Wagner, of the Eskimos, stopped 46 of the 50 shots the Thunderbirds fired his way, with the final Soo goal being scored into an empty net.
Joel Horodziejczyk, of the Thunderbirds, made 16 saves to earn the victory.
The Eskimos road trip continues on Sunday night when they take on the Bobcats in Elliot Lake.
The next home game for the Eskimos will be on Wednesday night when they host the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners at the Jus Jordan Arena.
Game time is 7:30 p.m.
