Eskimos’ Jacob Kord earns star status

The Abitibi Eskimos failed to find the win column this week, however, one of their players — winger Jacob Kord — has been named one of the Northern Ontario Junior ‘A’ Hockey League’s Players of the Week.

Kord, who just returned from the injury list, picked up four points in this past weekend’s two games with the Kirkland Lake Blue Devils.

The younger brother of Eskimos defenceman Justin Kord now has eight goals and 10 assists in 19 games this season.

He has also been no stranger to the penalty box, picking up 24 minutes.

The other Stars of the week are Kirkland Lake Blue Devils forward Johnathan Dionne, a Chapleau native who was picked up in a trade with the North Bay Trappers, and Sudbury Cubs forward Jamie Haines, who has put up 51 points in 23 games this season.
