GALLERY: Hearst collects road win in Timmins

TIMMINS, Ont. – Ty McKay tallied twice, and had an assist, to help propel the Hearst Lumberjacks over the Timmins Rock 5-2 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action Tuesday evening at McIntyre Arena.

A quickly-played opening frame saw Hearst notch the lone marker of the session in the final minute when they pressured a turnover in Timmins territory that led to Luc Warner quickly swatting in a short cross-ice pass from Mavrik Chan-Miguel past netminder Ayden Mullen.

The goal sees Warner run a consecutive game point streak to seven straight.

Moving to the second stanza, the visiting Lumberjacks went up by a pair, moments after a man advantage they were on had expired, when Warner fired a shot from the slot that was stopped by Mullen, but an open McKay promptly pumped in the rebound for his 28th of the season.

Getting one back later in the period, the Rock’s Edan Etheridge collected in loose puck in the right circle and fired a low shot under Hearst’s Jack Helkie at 15:46.

Going back up by a pair early in a spirited third period, Mathieu Comeau worked his was around and left the puck for Julien Trudel, who wheeled down the slot and fired an attempt into the bottom left corner.

Making it 3-2 via the power play at 8:51, Timmins’ Kaeden McArthur sent a low shot to the net that Lucas Lowe tipped through the legs of Helkie to give points in nine straight.

Countering once more, the Lumberjacks’ Kadin Bilajbegovic forced a turnover in the neutral zone that led to Hunter Kelso taking a Ty Seymour feed and ripping it upstairs from the left side.

Securing the road victory, Comeau muscled a play free at his own blueline and sent McKay in alone on a breakaway where he made a couple of quick dekes and sent one by Mullen for his 29th to round out the scoring.

With a fourth win in a row, Hearst improves to 25-8-0-3 overall and in defeat, Timmins falls to 29-7-0-1.
