NOJHL names its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that goaltender Ayden Mullen (Timmins Rock), along with forwards James Legler (Soo Thunderbirds) and Wyatt Groth (Soo Thunderbirds) have been named its Rogers 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 1.

Ayden Mullen, (G) Timmins Rock – Coming up big against the two highest scoring teams in the league, Mullen backstopped the Rock to a pair of victories last week.

The 16-year-old rookie goalkeeper from Kingston, Ont., began with a 36-save shutout of the Powassan Voodoos Friday night then followed that up with handling 28 of the 30 attempts he faced Sunday afternoon to hand the front-running Greater Sudbury Cubs their first loss in regulation time since back on November 8.

Coming out of the Quinte Devils U16 AAA program, Mullen wrapped up his run with a 1.00 goals-against average, to go with a .970 save percentage, in raising his overall win total this season to 15, which tops all rookies.

James Legler, (F) Soo Thunderbirds – With back-to-back four-point outings, the 20-year-old Thunderbirds captain led all NOJHL skaters offensively during the time frame.

The 20-year-old, who hails from Beaconsfield, Que., posted consecutive one-goal, three-assist efforts as Sault Ste. Marie rolled to big wins over rivals, the Soo Eagles and Blind River Beavers. This included setting up the deciding marker versus the Eagles and notching the game-winner against the Beavers.

An alumnus of the Ontario Hockey Academy Prep program in Cornwall, Ont., Legler has been over a point-per-game provider in his three seasons with the Thunderbirds, having accumulated 143 in 140 contests, featuring 20 tallies and 34 assists so far in 2025-26.

Wyatt Groth, (F) Soo Thunderbirds – After playing previously with his hometown Madison Capitols U18 AAA squad in Wisconsin, Groth, 19, is now making his mark with the T-Birds.

He supplied multiple-point efforts for the club over the weekend, with five in total, as he dished out a couple of helpers in the triumph vs. the Eagles, then set a personal season high with two tallies and an assist in the matchup with Blind River.

In the 13 games on the campaign, in which Groth has picked up at least one point, the T-Birds sport a record of 10-2-0-1.
