The first western road swing of the young 2011-2012 season is one that the Eskimos will want to forget.
On Friday, after arriving late due to bus issues, the Eskis dropped a 5-1 decision to the Soo (USA) Eagles.
Saturday went no better, with the black-and-gold coming out on the short end of a 8-2 drubbing at the hands of the Soo (ON) Thunderbirds.
Sunday afternoon looked more promising, with the Eskis having a 2-1 lead after two periods in BlindRiver. But the “gas tank” ran dry in the third, and two power play markers by the Beavers cemented a 3-2 win for the home side sending the black-and-gold home with zero points out of a possible six for the weekend.
Both Greg St.James (knee) and Jeffrey Gagne (shoulder) did not dress on Saturday or Sunday.
The Eskimos will regroup and host the east division leading Sudbury Cubs at the Igloo on Saturday night. Puck drops at 7:30 pm.
