Hill Academy didn’t lose a game in regulation during the 2026 OHL Cup tournament, but their hopes of winning the championship were dashed all the same.

Timmins Rock affiliate player Tanner Adams squad finished the tournament with one win, two overtime losses and a tie, but they failed to advance.

Adams, a Timmins product expected to be a high pick — perhaps first overall — in the 2026 OHL Priority Selection at Slush Puppie Place in Kingston, on June 12-13, enjoyed a strong tournament.

He had a hat-trick and a plus-2 rating in Hill Academy’s 4-2 win over the Huron-Perth Lakers at Scotiabank Pond Rink 1, on March 30.

Adams then had a goal and a plus-1 rating in Hill Academy’s 4-3 overtime loss to Detroit Honeybaked at Scotiabank Pond Rink 3, on March 31.

Then, on April 1, Adams had a goal and an even rating in Hill Academy’s 3-2 overtime loss to the Toronto Marlboros at Scotiabank Pond Rink 1.

Finally, Adams had a goal and a minus-1 rating in Hill Acadamy’s 5-5 tie against the York Simcoe Express at Scotiabank Pond Rink 2, also on April 1.

Adams finished the tournament with six goals, one of them on the power play, a plus-2 rating, 24 minutes in penalties, 18 shots on goal and 34 face-off wins.

With Hill Academy’s season finished, it remains to be seen if Adams will rejoin the Rock for their push to what they hope will be an NOJHL championship.

In three regular season games with the Rock, Adams picked up a pair of assists and spent eight minutes in the penalty box.
