POWASSAN – Tyler Peters and Michael Silveri each scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Voodoos to a 7-5 win over the Timmins Rock at the Sportsplex Friday night.

Peters’ 36th goal of the season put the Voodoos in front 1-0 5:06 into the opening period, but the Rock scored twice before the end of the frame to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.

Zachary Kercz scored his 24th goal of the season to tie things up just 41 seconds after Peters had put the home side in front and then defenceman Joe Olson potted his third goal of the season late in the period to put the Rock in front.

The second period was all Voodoos, however, as the home side put three goals past Rock goalie Logan Ferrington to erase a one-goal deficit and build a two-goal advantage.

Silveri got the puck rolling when he netted his 26th goal of the season early in the middle period.

Peters netted his 37th goal of the season at the 14:06 mark and then Silveri added his 27th goal of the season 45 seconds later to put the Voodoos up 4-2 heading into the second intermission.

Silveri’s 28th goal of the season, 1:16 into the third period increased the home side’s lead to 5-2.

The Rock responded quickly, however, as Alexandre Brisson netted his third goal of the season 21 seconds later to pull the visitors to within two goals again.

A Tyler Gervais-Rolfe goal, his ninth of the season, at the 8:40 mark put the Voodoos in front 6-3, but the Rock kept fighting and struck for a pair of goals to close the gap to just one goal.

First defenceman Nicholas Hautanen scored his fourth goal of the season midway through the third period, then Tristan Salesse netted his 29th goal of the season with just over two-and-a-half minutes remaining on the clock.

The Rock pulled Ferrington, but Peters deposited his 38thgoal of the season into the empty net to complete his hat-trick and make the final 7-5 in favour of the Voodoos .

Voodoos goalie Garrett Forrest stopped 50 of the 55 shots the Rock fired his way to earn the victory, while Ferrington turned aside 44 of the 50 shots he faced and was tagged with the loss.
