The Abitibi Eskimos are very pleased to announce the rosters of the 2012 Alumni Game being held on Friday December 21st at the Jus Jordan Arena in Iroquois Falls.
“This is a reflection of the tight-night family that the Eskimos have become over their 14 years of recent history “, beams Rick Charlebois, event co-chair and director of public relations with the club. “Alumni players, coaches, and trainers have been tripping over each other to attend what promises to be a great and fun weekend.”
“” It all came together a lot easier than we thought, and we are looking forward to having a fun weekend”, adds co-chair and alumni Scott Colosimo, native of Chateauguay QC, who skated as a defenseman with the club from 2007 to 2009. Currently an assistant coach for the 1000 Islands Privateers of the Federal Hockey League, a minor professional league based in the U.S., Colosimo also played a year of pro hockey after his term with the Eskis.
“(This is going to be the) best Christmas gift ever …having my boys home all at the same time!”, adds co-chair Allison Madden-Blais, team billeting coordinator. Many players are travelling considerable distance to attend the event, such as alumni “Dancing” Eddie Davey, who helped backstop the Eskimos to a league championship in 2009-2010, picking up league MVP along the way. “ He is travelling really far (to attend the Alumni Game) and still plays university hockey …he’s gonna stand on his head he is so excited! “. Orangeville ON native Davey is studying criminal justice at Westfield State College, in Massachusetts.
Also just confirmed is Joel Vienneau, who now plays for the OHL’s Sudbury Wolves. As well, local talents Ryan Kujawinski (Kingston Frontenacs; OHL) and Vienneau’s teammate Brody Silk (Sudbury Wolves) will be on hand for pictures and autographs, and soliciting donations to the Eskimos’ Greg St James Memorial Bursary Fund.
“All in all, for the fans who’ve followed the black and gold for the past 13 seasons, it should be a night to remember. With school being out for the Christmas break, and post-secondary students home for the holidays, we hope to have a big crowd in the Igloo for the Alumni Game”, adds Charlebois.
Doors will open at 6:30pm, opening ceremonies begin at 7:30pm on December 21st at the Jus Jordan Arena.
General admission seating is $10 for adults, $5 for youth 16 and under.
Advance tickets, which make great gifts, are available exclusively at Rick’s Hi-Fi.
