BLIND RIVER — The Abitibi Eskimos built up a 4-0 first-period lead Saturday night en route to defeating the Beavers 6-3.

The victory evens the Eskimos record on their current three-game road trip at 1-1.

Guillaume Rheault scored twice and added an assist to help Abitibi end its three-game losing streak.

Captain Richard Therrien, Jacob Kord and Preston Lacasse each had a goal and an assist for the Eskimos, while Delmer Moses picked up a pair of assists.

Jordan Delaurier had the game-winning goal for the Eskimos, with just under five minutes to play in the first period.

Former Kirkland Lake Blue Devil Jason Forward, picked up his first point as an Eskimo when he assisted on Delaurier’s goal.

Andrew Palushaj, Shane Snow and Michael Berens replied for the Beavers.

Martin Bilodeau stopped 36 of the 39 shots he faced to earn the victory for the Eskimos, while Blind River goalie Brandon Currie stopped 27 of the 33 shots he faced.

On Friday night, the Eskimos allowed five-straight goals after tying the scored 1-1 midway through the second period in a 6-1 loss to the Soo Thunderbirds.

Micky Sartoretto scored three goals and added three assists to pace the Thunderbirds’ offence.

Sartoretto scored an even-strength goal, a short-handed goal and a power-play goal.

Derek Battagin added a pair of goals for the winners, while Jake Wright had the other Soo goal.

Jacob Kord had the lone goal for the Eskimos.

John Kleinhans stopped 17 of the 18 shots Abitibi fired his way to earn the victory.

The Eskimos J.P. Fecteau, meanwhile, stopped 27 of the 33 shots he faced.

The third and final game of the Eskimos three-game road trip was played in Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., Sunday night against the Eagles.
