Chiddenton collects 3 points as Timmins takes NOJHL preseason opener over Kirkland Lake

KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – Rhys Chiddenton collected the game-winning goal and dished out two assists to lead the Timmins Rock to a 4-1 triumph over the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Wednesday evening in the Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League’s preseason opener held at Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.

Following a scoreless first frame, Chiddenton helped to get the Rock rolling as he set-up Owen Shier 14:06 into the middle stanza during a Timmins man advantage opportunity.

He then notched the eventual difference maker a couple minutes later as he finished off a Josh Dickson feed.

Kirkland Lake did get one back late, via the power play, in the final minute of the match-up as Ryan Hunter scored with the Gold Miners up a skater at 19:34.

Rock goaltender Vance Meyer was nearly flawless between the pipes for his side making 30 saves en route to earning the victory.
