TIMMINS, Ont. – A pair of third period tallies, including the eventual game-winner off the stick of Evan Katic, lifted the Timmins Rock to a 4-2 triumph over the Espanola Paper Kings in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League encounter Friday at McIntyre Arena.

While the Rock generated a few more attempts on target than the Paper Kings in the first period, the session went without a goal thanks to the efforts on Espanola’s Mason Janicki and Timmins’ Logan Coates.

In the second frame, Janicki kept it going five minutes in as he denied Tannen Iserhoff on a clear-cut breakaway.

Breaking the deadlock in the back half of the session, Kaden Wicklander connected for the Paper Kings as a Denver Mulligan cross-ice pass hit off a stick and found him driving to the net where he snapped a shot from the top of the crease past Coates.

The assist for Mulligan extended a point streak to five.

Action in the third saw Timmins tie it as Matteo Paradiso take a Maxx Hamelin dish and work his way left where he wired a shot over the blocker of Janicki at 4:40.

The Rock then went in front with seven and a half minutes later as Katic finished off a give-and-go with Maxx Hamelin and wired one in from the high slot.

Another from Katic moments later saw him neatly redirect a play put his way by Nolan Chabot from in deep.

Getting back to within one at 17:09, Espanola’s Ryan Atkins saw a bouncing puck find him on left side where he slammed it in.

After the Paper Kings got Janicki out late for an extra attacker, they looked to tie it, bit it was Ashton Beriana who iced it for Timmins with an empty netter in the final minute to wrap-up the result.
