NOJHL Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced today that goaltender Logan Ferrington and forward Tristan Salesse of the Abitibi Eskimos along with Elliot Lake Wildcats forward Alec MacKenzie have been named the Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the week for the period ending Jan. 18.

LOGAN FERRINGTON, (G) – ABITIBI ESKIMOS – In two starts this past week the 19-year-old London, Ont., product won both of them helping the Eskimos pick-up four points in the NOJHL standings.

Ferrington began with a 56-save effort in Cochrane Friday as Abitibi topped the rival Crunch 5-2.

Sunday afternoon he tacked on 35 more stops as the Eskimos doubled up Blind River 4-2 at Jus Jordan Arena.

Ferrington finished the week with a 2.00 goals-against average along with an impressive .958 save percentage.

ALEC MACKENZIE, (F) – ELLIOT LAKE WILDCATS – MacKenzie continues to be a set-up man for the first-year Wildcats helping them boast the third best record in the NOJHL to date.

Friday evening he dished out three assists as Elliot Lake edged the Soo Thunderbirds in overtime at Centennial Arena.

The 18-year-old from Ottawa then chipped in with two more helpers in a Wildcats win at Mattawa Saturday.

Averaging over a point-per-game with the club on nine goals and 28 assists, MacKenzie sits fourth on the squad in offensive production.

TRISTAN SALESSE, (F) – ABITIBI ESKIMOS – A solid offensive contributor since joining Abitibi back in November, the 18-year-old native of Terrace Bay, Ont., extended a consecutive game point streak to six by getting on the score sheet in both of the Eskimos games over the weekend.

Salesse began by scoring once and adding two assists, including help set-up the game-winner in the victory Friday at Cochrane.

He also added another helper Sunday in the decision over Blind River.

In 21 outings overall Salesse has tallied 11 times and doled out 21 assists for 32 points, including 10 multi-point nights.
