NOJHL names its Players of the Month for March

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Thursday its respective players of the month for March at forward, defence, goaltender and rookie areas.

FORWARD OF THE MONTH – DEREK SEGUIN, TIMMINS ROCK: Seguin etched his name on the game sheet in all but one of the 10 appearances he had during the time period, in pacing the Rock offensively.

The 20-year-old from South Porcupine, Ont., scored 11 times, including notching a pair of hat tricks, and doled out seven assists for an 18-point run in March.

Wrapping up his NOJHL career in impressive fashion, Seguin finished with 182 points in 160 outings while finding the back of the net 95 times and dishing out 87 helpers for Timmins.

DEFENCEMAN OF THE MONTH – CAMERON DUTKIEWICZ, SOO THUNDERBIRDS: The 19-year-old from Timmins was solid defensively for the Thunderbirds and was just as productive offensively.

Dutkiewicz scored five times for the Soo and also helped set-up seven other markers for his side.

Playing at just under a point-per-game pace on the season, he had 19 points in total in 21 match-ups on nine goals and 10 assists.

GOALTENDER OF THE MONTH – TYLER MASTERNAK, TIMMINS ROCK: Appearing in seven games last month, the 20-year-old netminder from Oshawa, won his last five NOJHL starts and went 6-1-0 overall in the time frame.

His contributions had Masternak sport a 1.44 goals-against average along with an equally solid .932 save percentage.

He also posted a shutout in his final NOJHL appearance, helping him extend his career league record in that department to 18.

ROOKIE OF THE MONTH – HARRY CLARK, TIMMINS ROCK: Appearing in 10 games in March, the 18-year-old Timmins product scored six times and dished out eight assists for the high-scoring Rock.

Included in Clark’s offensive efforts was a personal single-game best six-point performance back on March 28.

He also produced five multi-point contests on the season, which were all victories for his side, and added a trio of game-winning tallies.
