WASAGA BEACH, Ont. – Brett Bouchard tallied twice, including notching the game-winner, while former Powassan Voodoos’ netminder Daniel Dirracolo, stopped all but one late attempt he faced, to propel the Toronto Jr. Canadiens (OJHL) to a 5-1 triumph over the Timmins Rock Tuesday at the Cottage Cup Showcase in Wasaga Beach.

Featuring contests of two 20-minute periods, Toronto capitalized on the power play nearly six minutes in as Hudson Weger drove through multiple defenders and whipped a rising shot that was deemed to have gone in by the officials in beating Rock starter Dryden Riley.

Adding another at 12:16, Bouchard snagged an attempt from the point and pulled the puck back and stuffed it in the open side from the top of the crease.

After killing off a penalty, the Jr. Canadiens forced a turnover, which allowed Joel Taylor to swat one in to extend their lead.

Another from Bouchard moments later put Toronto up by four after one.

In the final stanza, Joesph Macchione chipped one in from close range for Toronto to add to their cushion.

The Rock eventually dashed Dirracollo’s shutout bid in the final minute off a goal-mouth scramble that was stuffed in by Ryan Boon from the left side.

A two-game slate awaits the Rock Wednesday as they’ll meet a pair of OJHL squads, beginning with a 1:30 p.m. encounter versus the Buffalo Jr. Sabres before finishing up against the defending Centennial Cup champion Collingwood Blues at 7:30 p.m.
