NOJHL names its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forward Brant Romaniuk (Timmins Rock); defenceman Andrey Manov (Blind River Beavers) and goaltender Connor Hatfield (Iroquois Falls Storm) have been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending December 3.

BRANT ROMANIUK, (F) TIMMINS ROCK: Romaniuk picked up five points for his hometown Timmins side as part of a pair of home ice victories.

The 16-year-old Rock rookie, scored once and dished out four assists, including setting up both game-winners, to help pace his club offensively.

As one of the youngest players in the NOJHL season, Romaniuk has contributed 22 points in 29 outings for Timmins so far this season to lead all first-year skaters on the Rock.

ANDREY MANOV, (D) BLIND RIVER BEAVERS:
Manov had a game-winning goal and three assists from the back-end, during the time frame, to help propel Blind River to a couple of triumphs and extend the Beavers’ current winning streak to seven in succession.

The 19-year-old blueliner from West Vancouver, B.C., notched the deciding tally against the Soo Thunderbirds Friday, then dished out a trio of helpers, featuring one on the deciding marker, in a victory over league-leading Greater Sudbury Saturday.

Currently sitting second in scoring among NOJHL defencemen, Manov has 36 points through 28 games on seven goals, three of which are game-winners, and 29 assists.

CONNOR HATFIELD, (G) IROQUOIS FALLS STORM:
A solid 47-save effort in his lone start last week saw Hatfield register the first shutout for the recently-minted Storm franchise, in blanking French River Friday.

The win for Iroquois Falls was also their first in regulation time, on the campaign, after a league-best five overtime decisions, plus two more, via the shootout.

After being acquired from the Soo Thunderbirds back in mid-October, the 19-year-old from Saskatoon, Sask., shares the NOJHL-lead in shutouts with three, and has six 40-plus save performances to his credit.
