SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that forwards Quinton Hill (Hearst Lumberjacks) and Jack Tos (French River Rapids) as well as defenceman Brendan Boyce (Timmins Rock) have been named its initial Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week of the 2020-21 season.
QUINTON HILL, (F) HEARST LUMBERJACKS – Pacing Hearst offensively in their two-game home-and-home weekend sweep over Cochrane, Hill racked up five points, including a league-best four goals.
The 19-year-old from Port Coquitlam, B.C., began by notching a pair of tallies in the Lumberjacks shootout triumph vs. the Crunch Saturday, then followed that up by collecting a pair of markers, including the game-winner, and adding an assist to help his side take their home opener Sunday.
Hill was acquired by Hearst after spending last season with the Weyburn Red Wings (SJHL).
JACK TOS, (F) FRENCH RIVER RAPIDS – In a pair of French River shootout victories over Espanola on the weekend, scored once and dished out four assists to pace the Rapids offensively.
One of his helpers came in the final minute of play in Friday’s come from triumph vs. the Express.
The 18-year-old Oakville, Ont., product also supplied the only marker in extra shots Saturday with a nifty attempt he calmly slid between the goalkeeper’s legs.
Dating back to last season, Tos has points in three straight regular season outings as well as five of his previous six outings.
BRENDAN BOYCE, (D) TIMMINS ROCK – A 19-year-old native of Courtice, Ont., the second-year Rock blueliner contributed on both ends of the ice Sunday evening helping Timmins stop Rayside-Balfour in each club’s first game of the season.
Boyce began by making a crisp cross-ice pass to captain Derek Seguin to set-up their first goal of the night during a first period power play, then rounded out the scoring in the final frame with an impressive slap shot from the high slot to secure the road decision.
So far in his Rock career, his team has gone 7-0 in games in which Boyce has scored.
