NOJHL names its initial Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for 2021-22

SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League announced Monday that Timmins Rock forward Christopher Engelbert, Elliot Lake Red Wings goaltender Nolan Chartrand and Soo Thunderbirds forward Tyson Doucette have been named its initial Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week for the 2021-22 campaign.

CHRISTOPER ENGELBERT, (F) TIMMINS ROCK – Making an immediate presence with the Rock, the 18-year-old from Whitby, Ont., notched both game-winning-goals for Timmins in a pair of victories to begin their season.

In all, Engelbert tallied three times, highlighted by the decider in overtime against Hearst Sunday afternoon, and dished out one assist in the two match-ups played.

The nephew of former NHLer Rob Pearson will enter the second week of the NOJHL season tied for top spot in league scoring with four points.

NOLAN CHARTRAND, (G) ELLIOT LAKE RED WINGS – Getting the start twice for the new-look Red Wings over the weekend, Chartrand picked up the win in each of them helping his side get out to a crisp 2-0 beginning to the campaign.

Hailing from Kitchener, Ont., the Elliot Lake stopper handled 62 of the 66 shots he faced for a 2.00 goals-against average, along with a save percentage of .939.

The 17-year-old rookie joined the club after playing U-16 AAA for the Cambridge Hawks.

TYSON DOUCETTE, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS – In his season debut, the 17-year-old Sault Ste. Marie, Ont., product made an instant impact by notching his first NOJHL hat trick in a decisive road victory in Blind River Saturday night.

Doucette also provided the game-winning tally just 46 seconds into the contest in a one-sided triumph vs. the Beavers.

As a NOJHL rookie last season, he provided 11 points, including five markers, for the Soo in 20 outings.
