SUDBURY, Ont. – The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League (NOJHL) announced Monday that forwards Mason Svarich (Timmins Rock); Kelsey Ouellet (Soo Thunderbirds) and Mathieu MacMillan (Powassan Voodoos) been named its Eastlink TV 3 Stars of the Week, for the period ending March 10.
MASON SVARICH, (F) TIMMINS ROCK: Yet another impressive week for the 20-year-old from Stony Plain, Alta., as he registered nine points, including six tallies, in a home-and-home sweep by the Rock over Iroquois Falls.
This included a four-goal effort Friday, and two more Saturday, to give him 11 multi-marker efforts through 43 games this season.
In 100 NOJHL appearances, the skilled Timmins standout has 128 points to his credit, having scored 69 times, while having helped set-up 59 others.
KELSEY OUELLET, (F) SOO THUNDERBIRDS: Scoring and picking up assists in each of the Thunderbirds’ three triumphs last week, Ouellet continued his offensive prowess of late.
The 20-year-old Kapuskasing, Ont., product had eight points in total, featuring five goals, helping Sault Ste. Marie extend their current winning streak to nine in a row.
Much of the T-Birds current success can be credited to Ouellet, who is riding a present league-high 15-game point streak. (21G-11A-32PTS).
MATHIEU MACMILLAN, (F) POWASSAN VOODOOS: Skating in two of the three Powassan victories during the time frame, MacMillan amassed seven points to help him reach the 100-plateau in his NOJHL career.
Featured in his on-ice contributions was a personal single-game-best six-point night versus French River.
Hailing from Gloucester, Ont., MacMillan, 19, tops the Voodoos in offensive production with 72 points through 50 outings, which puts him eighth among all league players.
